My stove top burners work but the oven won't light. I have checked and the ignighter is glowing. It doesn't seem like the gas is getting to the ignighter. I am not an appliance expert so this is foreign to me. I noticed on the burner line, or the tube where the gas should come out, that there is a piece that I can turn to open and close where the gas line comes in. This is at the beginning of the line. It was open and a screw was tight. I am wondering if the gas is escaping from this area before it has a chance to get up into the line. If I loosen the screw I can turn the piece and it closes the opening.
Again, I am no expert, but this makes me think the gas will get into the line.
Any help is appreciated.

your ignighter can glow and still be bad. Gas oven won't work, Ignitor is glowing
Everything in the circuit must have continuity for the oven to fire up. What if the ignitor glows but the oven will still not come on? If the ignitor is glowing that would mean you have a circuit. Solution: Replace the ignitor, even if it comes on. Why? Because 99% of the time the ignitor is weak. When it is working fine it should be so bright you cannot look at it for long. If it is a mellow orange color it is bad, replace it. The only way the gas oven valve would be bad is if it is open and has no continuity. That goes for the control as well. Check out this simple diagram of how a basic gas range operates. oven ignitor An ignitor must draw at least 3.5 amps or that safety valve will not open up and release the gas:
