Top oven of the double oven stopped working. Followed basic troubshooting suggestions and narrowed down to element problem. Pulled out the element and tested it with a VOM. The element is a double coil, one inner and one outer. The inner one tests about 32ohms, and the outer tests 53 ohms. Based on various info I saw on testing, some say one should get reading s between 15-30 ohms. Another site said 15-115 was OK. Another said any reading was OK, and if got none then it was a bad element. OK, which of these is the correct answer ? And what does my actual reading mean: inside is good (32) and the outside element (53) is bad ? Thanks for any help. I located the part ( AP3951315 ) on your site and will order but want to verify if I need an element based on my readings or not. Last bit of info: when I was pulling the element, three of the four connectors cables came out of the oven wall and I could disconnect and tape them temporarily. The fourth one did not have a cable attached that I could see. I am sure it is there but must have fallen off behind the oven wall. I cannot see it due to all the insulation in the way. I will have to pull out the oven and probably open the back to see the missing cable condition.

I'll bet your element is OK. You'll need to pull the oven  to access the wiring harness. Could be a burned or broken connection. This is a 2 stage broiler element. It's possible for one element to go bad and the other is ok. Follow the wiring from the broiler elements up to the control panel.Look for thermal fuses along the way. AP3030381 Thermal Fuse. Good Luck..wrench
