My washer starts to fill then quits after about 30 seconds. It starts to spin and quits after about 30 seconds. I was quoted a price of $330 to fix the motherboard. Is he right & is that what I need? The washer is 3 1/2 yrs old & this is the 2nd time I have had a problem.

If the service tech came to your house, ran through all of the troubleshooting routines and came that conclusion he is probably correct.

If that was a cursory or over the phone diagnosis, you can do the troubleshooting yourself.

Here is the service manual which will take you through the process.

In all liklihood the control board is the problem, but try to make it more likely before you spend the big bucks. Also, if you replaced it before see if there is warranty on that service, and if you have a tech do try to get him or her to find out why it is failing.

Good luck.
