I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 dryer and the dryer opens when it is in the middle of the cycle. I have had to use duct tape to keep it going. The hinges seem fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be.

Well, it would seem the problem is in your door catch.

Since you did not post the model number I am only guessing at which part it is, but look at this and see if this matches your door catch.

Part number: AP3094183
Part number: AP3094183


If it does, go ahead and order it and put it in, I mean, the shipping will cost more than the part.

If this is not it, use your model number to find the right part.
