Kelvinator gas dryer wont heat. Ignitor is glowing but I dont think any gas is getting to it.

Thoughts?

Does the ignitor fade away or just stay glowing?

Yeah, it shuts down after 10-15 seconds maybe. It seems like no gas is getting to it... but I know the gas is on and working because when I push up on the small black thing by the valve I can smell gas.

Sounds like one of the coils on the gas valve aren't opening the valve.

You can try using a ohm meter to check them but that isn't always accurate. They will sometimes read good but under a load they don't perform. May want to also make sure nothing is blocking the orfice (small opening where the gas comes out). I've seen spider webs, and other oddities block the small opening. Especially if the unit hadn't been used in a while.

Unit was being used every few days so nothing should be blocking it. What is a good place to buy the coils from? are they easy to install?

You can buy them from this site, AppliancePartsPros.com.

The model # you've posted is missing a digit on the end of it. After you get that, go to our homepage and enter the model# and you'll see a parts diagram for your dryer. Under the burner picture you'll see the coils listed. You can then order them online from us. Need to also mention it is possible something could have gone wrong inside the valve itself. That is not the norm though.

They are not real hard to install. Screws hold them in place. Make sure to remove the power cord and turn off the gas.
