The batteries in my thremostat died the other day. I changed them and now the ac or heat won't turn on. You can hear the thermostat click as if its tryin to turn on, but he system its self wont turn on. Some advice would be awesome

[check the wireing in the back of the t-stat and make shure that when you replaced the batts that a wire most likely your (r) wire is not broke or loose. If that dose not do the trick touch the (g) wire to the (r) wire the indoor fan should come on at this point. If not you are not geting power to the tstat. Check power at airhandler or package unit depending on what you have. this should get you on track.

I tried touching the r and g wires and nothing happened. The breaker is on and he switch on the side of the air handler is on. What else can i do

Leave the jumper on for 30 seconds, the fan probably has a time delay.

some stats have a reset button that once you change your batteries you need to reset in order for it to work. it should be in the area where the batteries are. it could be a little black button that just gets pushed in.
