i know this is an OLD dryer,but what do ya think?....the marks are black and about an inch long

I think you should take out the drum and replace the rollers. Here are the parts

Part number: AP3098345
Part number: AP3098345


The advantage of doing this is

1. It probably needs to be done anyway
2. With the drum out you can clean everything, and also see if some felt or other material is making the marks.
