The Dryer stops getting hot and will not dry the clothes. I took it apart and found that the heating element gets hot but does not stay hot. Is it the element or the thermostate?:(

The heating element is supposed to cycle on and off, so that part should be ok unless it is cycling too quickly.
Before you do anything, thorough clean out the dryer, particularly the vent section and take off the blower cover and check it to make certain it is blowing correctly and not damaged.
If your dryer is heating, tumbling and the air flow is at spec, it will dry your clothes, so it has to be one of those three
Good luck
