So I have an old (made in around 1982) Kenmore 60361 series fridge model #106.8608361. It is a frostless fridge as there is an information label still attatched to the freezer door that states it. The fridge was in the house when I moved into it so I'm not sure how well it worked brand new but recently I've been having problems with the coil frosting up and making the fridge run non stop. after checking into it I've found the defrost heater element tests okay with 21 ohms. the thermostat switch doesn't seem to be working as it remains open wether at room temperature or after being in the freezer for an hour. I want to replace the switch but for now I bypassed it and was going to test the function by manually adjusting the defrost timer but I went looking and there seems to be no timer. I found a picture of a whirlpool set up where the controls looks EXACTLY the same as mine and it's supposed to be behind the panel but it isn't. Now I'm wondering if possibly the timer was removed even though I don't see any wire ends or harnes's unplugged behind the panel. any knowledge as to where the timer would be or how the system works would be much appreciated

found out where it WAS. I had removed the icemaker to gain some storage in the freezer and since it's an extra basement fridge I wouldn't be using it. Well sure enough that's where Kenmore decided to place the timer. I was able to track down which wires went to it and I'll be installing a universal outside of the fridge on the back to the appropriate wires. thanks to anyone who read for trying to help.
