My Kenmore elite side by side does not have a part called the defrost timer. I am pretty sure my problem has to do with the defrost cycle. The fridg side was not getting cold and then things were thawing in the freezer. I removed the back panel in the freezer side and the coils were completely frosted over. What do I do if there is no defrost timer on my model fridg???? Please help!

This s a new refigerator I have never seen. Pull the service packe from behind the kick panel and enter diagnostic mode. If you step through diagnostics, it should tell you what's wrong. There is no defrost imer in this, defrost controlled by pc board in fridg. and relay in the back pc board.
You can remove the freezer back panel and defrost the coils with a hair dryer. This will be good for several days.
Other wise, you may have to call for service on this, unless you can re-post for Gene, the resident expert.
