I recently acquired this used Dishwasher. It has worked well but now when I start the cycle, it will fill but not go to the next step. The machine hums around the keypad. Any thoughts?

Gene,
I removed the toe panel and there are no watermarks. However, upon closer examination, the control panel area sends a distinct click signal and it is immediately after this signal that the dishwasher hums. It appears to be the motor that is vibrating. Does this indicate a motor problem or a control assembly problem?
Thanks

I would check for a foreign objects inside the pump first. Remove the lower spray arm and the pump cover. Remove the pump filter and the rinse arm assembly (#7 & #9 on the diagram). Then remove the discharge housing assembly (#13) and check the impellers. Gene.

There were no foreign objects in the impeller. In order to determine if it is the motor or the control assembly do I need to test the ampage? I have a volt meter which I really don't know how to use but if you can guide me, I'll test both and I'll have a plan unless I am missing something else.
Thanks

It is a good idea to check the current drawn by the motor. The tester should be wired in series with the motor. More accurate instructions on how to use the volt meter you can find in its manual. You can find the normal amperage listed on the name plate.
Gene.
