 I posted days ago with my problem but to date no-one has taken a stab at it.
The original problem was freezer okay, fresh food not cooling.

I went through the troubleshooting steps Gene has posted.

All steps pointed to a bad defrost timer. That was replaced today.
6 hr. x 21 min.
I checked the heater and although I never felt any heat from it, the ohm meter read 26.7 during the test.

I installed the new defrost timer, reassembled the freezer compartment and turned on the box. I set the temp controls on 5 out of 9 to start.
I began writing down the temps hour by hour this evening and this is what I have:

3 pm freezer 76 degrees fresh food 80 degrees
4 pm " 22 " " " 62 "
5 pm " 10 " " " 52 "
6 pm " 4 " " " 44 "
7 pm " 30 " " " 56 "
8 pm " 10 " " " 55 "
8:30 pm " 30 " " " 56 "

All of these temps are within the 6 hr freeze time on the defrost timer as I started it in freeze when I put the box on.

Does anyone have an idea or suggestion?????

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure it's running. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.

Diagram 3 shows your damper parts. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com

Does your compressor ever cut off and on during these variations in temp.
Could be freezer cold control.

Hello Mr. Woodchuckie,
Thanks for your post. Yes, it has reached the set temp and shut off. Also, it seems to be right on time with the defrost cycle.
The freezer is holding temp at at range of -8 degrees most of the day. The fresh food section won't go below 40 degrees and thats with the fresh food section dial at 9 (max).
The amount of air being blown into the fresh food section is minimal.
I went to the link you sent to me (acme) and they suggest a number of possible solutions for me to try. I'm getting good at taking the freezer apart. Thanks for your help. If you think of anything else please holla!!!!

Check your warm air returns either behind the crispers, or inside the freezer, look for ice jams.

Hello Richappy,

Thanks, for the advice. There is no ice build up any where. Box was allowed to defrost for a number of days just in case.

Richappy,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I didn't know you had posted again.
Frig is basically empty. Freezer has held temp from -10 degrees to + 4 degrees all day long. Fresh food section has held between +32 degrees and +38 degrees all day long.
The freezer back wall temp is +6 degrees at this hour, 10:40 pm.

Fridg seems to be healing itself. I would monitor the freezer temperature for a week or two, may be developing a refrigerant leak.

Hello Richappy,

Maybe so. Put some pre-cooled items in it this am. I'll keep an eye on it.
Thanks for your help!
