You're quite right. I tried doing this after working a long day, without my glasses. You may have some luck with Service Matters .com

Can you tell me the correct part number? Also, most importantly-how do I safely open the machine and is this a simple fix??? I have no experience. Thanks again, Joel

I'm sorry to say that I am not familiar with the belt driven Whirlpools. It looks from some drawings like you may be able to fully access the water valve from the console. You'll either do this from the fromt via two screws at the cabinet edges of the console, or through the back, by removing the rear console panel. Just keep it unplugged while you're working on it, and don't forget to shut off the water first.

The part number in post #9 in this thread is the closest one I could find. Try this and see if it matches what you have: http://www.********************...t-LC400XTNO%20%20-%3d%3d
