Hello,
The washer makes a clicking sound when agitating or spinning. Sometimes, the agitating and spinning stops, and sometimes it does not.
While it is making the clicking sound, house lights dim.
Since it does agitate, I feel the agitator coupler is good; also, the agitator does not move by hand. And since it does spin, I feel the belt is okay.
I think the problem is the motor. I've seen places online that mention a "fix kit" for this clicking problem. Do you know if one exists?
Or, do you think I just need a new motor? and clutch assembly also?
thanks for looking at this, Kyle

You have a bad centrifical switch in the motor that can't be replaced. You can try a non-residue spray on it, make sure it's dry before starting.

If the non-residue spray does not fix the problem, then I need to install a new motor, is that right? Is a new motor install straightforward, just a matter of unclipping the wires and unbolting?

Yes an easy job, just pull on the motor to put a bit of tension on the belt. I checked a motor and there is no way to activate the switch externally, so spraying may not have much effect.

I will get a new motor; how do I open the washer up to replace the motor?

Push a putty knife under the top where the clips are and pry the front panel forward. Remove the bottom motor nuts and remove motor. Install the new motor, pull forward to put tension on the belt and tighten the nuts.
