I was doing laundry and after the water came into the washer, the washer sounded like it was moving to the next segment of the cycle, but the drum did not turn. Opened up the wahser and found that the shock was broken. Ordered the part, replaced the two shocks. Ran the washer again. The water came in, the washer made the sound of switching but again the drum didn't turn. Did not push any reset button--is there one? Or are we looking at a bigger problem?

Hi Alan

You may be looking at a bigger problem.

You need to see if the pulley on the back will turn. If it will, take off the belt and see if the motor is operating.

The weak spot in these models is the rear tub bearing, they fail frequently and your broken shock may have cause the bearing to fail. Unfortunately, the bearing is not sold separately, you have to purchase the entire back half of the tub and its a pretty expensive part. Unless you can do the repair yourself the cost is prohibitive.

Anyway, try to determine if it is the tub or the motor that is refusing to move.

Good luck, let us know what you find out.

Hi. Thanks for your thoughts. So far I am unable to get power to the motor. The fuse was bad on the speed control, so I replaced it. Same problem, still no drum turn. The service guide said if the fuse was blown to replace the speed control. I thought it wouldn't hurt to try a fuse.

I looked at the motor without the belt on it last night and no movement with or without the belt.

Thanks again

Alan

Hi Alan

Thanks for the update. If the motor will not run the speed control board is the likely suspect, but it could be the CCU

Unfortunately you are looking at replacing fairly expensive parts on speculation, so you need to decide if you want to do that and take the chance on fixing it, or use the money towards a new machine.

Good luck, hope it turns out well for you.
