AMANA refrigerator-freezer model ARB 2107 AW bottom freezer 7 years old The freezer is not cold enough to freeze. The condenser coils are clean The evaporator and condenser fans are working The compressor works The evaporator is not frosted solid The bi-metal / defrost thermostat tests OK The defrost timer tests OK The freezer temperature control tests OK (meter needle sweeps to 0) Could the freezer temperature control still be defective (not reacting to the correct temperature?)

You could bypass the cold control to see if it works then.
But one thing you didn't mention-- observe the frost pattern on the evaporator. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

Thank you for your reply! I will check the frost pattern. No-one has ever mentioned that. If that looks normal, how do I bypass the cold control? Do I remove the control and link the two leads?

I replaced the cold control even though it tested ok. After about 24 hours to allow for the temperature to stabilize, the freezer was freezing normally.
