The cushion washer goes between the bracket and the tub and the lock washer goes after the flat washer (not included in the kit) and the nut. http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/Maytag-tub-seal.html

Are there any unknown steps that I could have missed. I used step by step instructions from the internet. There is a rust spot next to the hole the tub bearing goes in. I wonder if water is leaking there.

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 3/28/2009(UTC) Posts: 1,648		It is very possible that is the problem but I would go back and make sure the seal is pressed down good and the little rubber boot is also all the way down. I would say the rust spot is the cause but double check.
