I am having problems with the lint catcher on my Whirlpool Dryer model number LEQ9508PW0.

The dryer was not drying initially and was not getting any heat so I replaced the heating element. The is now fantastic however the dryer still takes 3-5 cycles to dry a load of clothes.

I check the lint catcher every cycle and I can tell that it is not working properly. Lint is only caught on the bottom 1/5 of the catcher and lint is also on the wrong side of the catcher. I cleaned the air outflow tube and the exhaust tube that runs through the house thoroughly. When I was cleaning them last (about 2 weeks ago) lint was clumping up on the bottom of the dryer exhaust where the tube connects to the dryer and it was wet. There was also a lot of lint up the exhaust tube through the house.

I was hoping that cleaning the tubes out and vacuuming as much as possible from the back of the dryer would help and it di for a few days and that was it. I am sure the lint is clumped up again and wet at the bottom of the dryer.

Does anybody have any idea as to why the lint catcher is not catching the lint. I am very anal about making sure it is cleaned after every load but I am pretty sure that it is missing the bulk of the lint.

Thanks very much. I took off the back and opened the front and removed the exhuast tube and there was water collecting in the tube. After cleaning I checked the air flow. The air flow was great from the back of the unit but I was still puzzled so I took off the "lint holder" and it seemed fine.

So I decided that I need to check the house exhust tube that goes up to the roof. Last time I cleaned it, I cleaned from the bottom all the way to the top but never went on the roof to verify that it was clear up there. This time I did and it was completely clogged. So after unclogged the exhaust exit on the roof and putting everything back together, the dryer now works great and I have a happy wife!
