I have two Amana side by side refrigerators and both overfill the ice-tray. There is a small plastic screw on the front of the ice-maker, but it doesn't seem to do any type of adjustment. I don't know if it is even for water adjustment or not. It may be the valves need replacing ?

I don’t know for sure what type of icemaker you have without the model number but I think it would be like the Whirlpool. If it is when you pull the cover off you will see test holes marked with letters. If so make a jumper wire (an insulated wire skinned ½ inch on each end). Place one end of the wire in the hole marked V and the other in the hole marked L. This should turn the water valve on and water should start entering the icemaker. Once you see water entering the icemaker pull the wire out as soon as the wire is out the water should stop. If the water continues to run replace the water valve. If the water stops repeat the test several times. If the water stops each time replace the motor/module. Whirlpool Icemaker Repair Guide If this is not the type icemaker you have post model number.

Yes, this is the type icemaker I am talking about but the way it is positioned you will have to take it loose to see the test holes. Just make sure you leave it plugged in when doing the test.
