have a 3yr old whirlpool dryer that takes 2 cycles before clothes are dry. I cleaned vent (not much in there). I removed the back of the dryer and pysically inspected the element as the dryer was running ( element glows red ) and seems to be woking fine. Im very handy but limited in trouble shooting any further. Looking for some direction. Could this be a faulty thermostat? Thanks

You need to check out blower, make sure it is ok and there is no obstruction in the blower housing and test the temperature coming out of the exhaust.

If these check out ok, then you should consider replacing the thermostats

If you need more info please post a complete model number.

Thanks

OK - I got back in there today and found out the element only gets hot for about 15 seconds at a time. A couple of minutes goes by and then they get hot for another 15 seconds. What do you think? Thanks

Yep, I would say a thermostat (it's what you thought in the first place)

OK - the diagram shows 3 of them. Do I repalce all of them? Also shows a sensor and a thermal cut-off. Should I replace them as well? Thank you for your help.
