Icemaker on Whirlpool side by side with icebucket in door stops making ice at times. Red light blinks twice followed by pause (with flap closed). Sometimes goes solid red when I close flap. I think this is when icemaker begins to work again. Is there a problem with the ir emitter/reciever working sporatically or do they usually completely go bad? Is there a possibility you can clean the optics?

Thanks
David

If the led blinks twice with the optics not blocked the emitter and receiver boards are bad. Whirlpool Icemaker Repair Guide
