Dear Dryer Repair Folks,
Here is the problem:
1. The motor, drum, light are all operable and it spins nicely
2. The heat does not come on and I do not hear any noise of ignition
3) I had a flame sensor (AP2910747) I had to replace about 7 years ago and it has worked fine since then but maybe it has failed again
4) I would guess it might also be a thermal fuse or loose wire somewhere
5) What sequence should I use to test components to isolate the problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Look to see if the ignitor glows when you start the dryer. If it does, does it cycle on and off?

Maybe I missed this in the parts list but I did not see it listed and I was looking for it too. Do I have to take off the whole front to see it is the question??? If not where do I look for it?

A lot of gas dryers have a small access panel at the front/bottom, that can be removed, usually by prying it away, to expose the coils, burner, ignitor and flame (radiant) sensor. If yours does not, you can still see a glow coming from beneath the dryer in the front, if you can darken the room, while the dryer is running. Sometimes you can also see from a small hole in the back of the machine.

OK, I will try this tonight once it gets dark enough and report back to you on it as I don't think I can darken the area around it enough during daylight hours. Thanks for your help on this.

OK, Magician59, Here is where we're at:
1) I opened the top of the dryer and I tried to see a glow when we turned it on. Motor ran fine, drum turned but I saw no glow.
2) Disconnected the drive belt and pulled out the drum. reattached door switch connect for continuity. Started it and the motor ran. Still no glow.
3) Unscrewed the igniter from the holder, played with the connector and tried power again---still no glow.
4) Disconnected the igniter and it was not visibly broken but was sparkling carbon but less so towards it tips and on the back side. Measured across it's connector leads showing 63 ohms.
5) Where next?? Took a photo of it but too large to upload without dumbing it down a bit.

Since you have the ignitor disconnected, you may want to check for voltage at its connectors. You'll need to temporarily close the door switch and protect the terminals from accidentally grounding against metal. If you get voltage at the ignitor connection, you may have a burnt out ignitor. Try not to touch the carbon element, as you can foul it, similar to handling the modern headlamps of our cars.
If you replace it, you might also want to replace the coils, while you're at it.

Great idea on the test of the hot side. Duh, why didn't I think of that?? Will get to it this evening and let you know the results.

Hi Magician59,
OK, I set up my multimeter on AC and placed the probes into the socket from which I removed the dryer ignitor. Then I turned on main switch and the motor ran BUT I saw no real rise in output on the meter. Did I do this correctly? Would have expected some output but got barely percptible figures that varied a bit and that was all.

Did not get reply to my last post. Are you still with me on this. If I did it right, I got no voltage across the supply side that goes to the ignitor. Waht would be next step to trace this back?
