The time for the frosting process has gradually shortened over the recent few months. Frost also appears at the exit door of the ice dispenser inside the freezer. Where to look/what to do? The door gaskets appear to be secure. Is there a foolproof method of testing? Although I can't determine it by looking, the ice maker flap may not be secure because of the quick forming of 'snow' around the inside ice maker opening. A narrow foam strip came out of somewhere. Could the leaky ice maker flap cause the coils to completely frost over within 2 days? I defrosted the entire refrigerator on Friday. The unit has not stopped running since then. Nearly everything in the frig spoled by tonight (Sunday). Thank you again. Espritman

The vent(damper) to the fridge from the freezer could also be stopped up with ice stopping air flow to the fridge side. That's where the fridge gets it's cold air. If your have to defrost the coils yourself, then the defrost system isn't working. check , defrost heater and defrost thermostat>Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the adaptive defrost control. Part 13 on diagram 2 is your adaptive defrost control. check , defrost heater, defrost thermostat If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.
