I'm having a problem with my dryer flipping the breaker after a few minutes of drying. I took the back off and thoroughly vacuumed the vent all the way back to the dryer cylinder including removing the lint trap portion of the vent and cleaning the openings into the dryer. It seemed to work for 1-2 dryer runs after that and now it is flipping the breaker again.

Once I reset the breaker it seems to work for a little while before it flips again. I checked outside and it is blowing air through the vent.

Any suggestions or thoughts on which part(s) may be the problem?

THanks for the reply Gene. I will check the amp draw and compare. It just seems strange that it has been working for 3 years and now is flipping the breaker.

The breaker appears to be sufficient for the dryer (30Amp with a draw of ony 26).

I am convinced that the problem is that the dryer is getting too hot and that is causing the breaker to get flipped. It seems to me to be one of the following items:
- Thermal cutoff
- Thermostat, fixed
- Dryer cycling thermostat
- Dryer thermal fuse - don't really think this is the problem
- Heating element - don't really think this is the problem either

The first two are near the heating element while the next two are located near the exhaust fan.

Any thoughts?

I watched the dryer heating elements while it was on and it works fine and shuts off like it should. (the range is supposed to be 130F to 155F).

I am now thinking (like Gene) that it's the breaker.
