I have a Whirlpool LER5600 dryer. I recently replaced the belt and idler pulley. Now the unit will start, but only run for about ten minutes or so. It does restart after it cools down.
When you push the start button there is an "electric grinding" noise for one second and the unit runs, although it hums loudly. After 10 minutes there is the grinding noise for a second and the dryer stops. Pushing the start button produces a loud buzzing, but the unit won't restart. After a cool down the dryer starts and runs as before. The motor does turn freely and after opening the front and removing the drum the motor does start.
My reading of the forums makes me think that the motor is bad. Am I right or is there some sort of thermal problem that shuts the unit off after a certain amount of time?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the motor is the culprit. It overheats and the overload protector turns it off.

- The part number for the motor is AP3094245
