When starting the oven, I can smell gas then a mini-explosion with a whump sound. The broiler works fine when starting. I think that the igniter needs replaced. I know that I can do the replacement with some help on the type of part needed and some basic instruction.:confused:

Yes, you were right. To solve the problem the bake igniter has to be replaced.

- The part number for the igniter is AP3119495

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool range Model SF387PEYN3
