The belt broke after 9 years on this dryer. Since it has a teflon belt glide instead of an idler pulley, I ordered the 4292065 maintenance kit. The new pulley is supposed to be an improvement over the telfon glide. I got it running, but I was getting a rattle/wobble sound. I then took out the new pulley and put the teflon glide back in and it was quiet again. I did notice that the pulley was very close or even touching the motor shaft or even the the drum. Anyone have this experience? I'd rather use the pulley as that reportedly will extend the belt life. Thanks.

The model number nor the part number you posted do not come up. Verify and repost them.

Hi. The Kenmore model is correct (it does come up on a Google search and the Sears website). The maintenance kit number was wrong. It is 4392065 made by Jason Industrial. Sorry.

There are two slots under the motor pulley. You have to insert the bottom part of the idler pulley in the very left slot.

The picture of the dryer repair kit shows the old style (teflon roller) idler pulley:

Here is the belt diagram for Whirlpool dryers:

Gene: Thanks for the pics. I had seen them. Notice the idler pulley diagram. When I installed mine, the wheel was actually touching the motor shaft. The drawing shows some space between them, but I think that's where my noise was coming from. The old teflon glide tensioner is not near the motor when installed.

The other thing which can cause it is a belt longer than it suppose to be . According to the part description (AP2946843) it should be 92-1/4".
