I just replaced the tub bearing and belt and I am still hearing the high pitched noise. The idler pulley looked OK and did not have any excess play in it so I did not raplace it. Maybe I should just to rule that out? Is there anything else that I should look at replacing that may be causing this noise?

Sorry no one has gotten back to you before this,

Noises are one of the hardest things to diagnose in a forum for the obvious reason that we are not there to hear it. I would replace the idler pulley and it would seem to be the likely source given what else you have done. You cannot determine its condition by inspection, it can look good but still make noise.

Let us know how it works out.

Thanks for the input.

I actually ended up replacing the top felt w/ nylon pads and that took care of the problem.
