Dontforget,

The motor you hear running, apparently is not the compressor. You'll need to get to the back of the machine, remove the lower compartment cover and check the compressor, to see if it is running.

I doubt it but you should also check the back wall of the freezer compartment for a large build up of ice or frost, indicating a defrost problem.
