recently bought this used Maytag Atlantis W/D set both have been working fine for a month. Put a load in the washer this morning. It filled with water then stopped. It checked the controls etc. turning it on & off it started filling for less than a minute then stopped same thing again, after being stopped for awhile it started again for 3 minutes then shut down again? Any ideas.

I cannot get a wiring diagram for your model, but looking at wiring diagrams for similar models it suggest that the problem may be in your lid switch.

I would by-pass the lid switch and see if that cures the problem. If it does replace the lid switch, if not the timer may be the issue.

Good luck, let us know how it works out.
