Howdy All,

I have a GE wjre5550k2ww that will not spin. It started by not spinning occasionally, if you turned the knob, it would work when you turned it back on. I thought it might be bad contacts in the switch, so I hosed it down with contact cleaner with no change. I replaced the circuit board and nothing changed.

I took the front cover off and checked the trouble codes. There were no codes on the motor. The light flashed on and off in one second intervals. In the field service mode, position one after turning the knob 180 degrees (to put it the field service mode), I get lights on solid for 1 (soak), 3 (rinse), and 4 (spin). I get no lights in position 2, 3, and 4. In position 5-11, the appropriate light illuminates and the functions work appropriately, except the spin mode. In spin mode (position 10), it will make a loud click, start pumping and agitate.

Mechanically the large wheel spins perfectly fine, the belt is in good shape. There have been no noise issues in the past.

I'm thinking the motor or drive is bad. Thoughts?

I also bypassed the lid switch just to see if that was the issue.

Did you transfer the model select plug from the old circuit board to the new one? If so, then yes, looks like a bad motor/inverter.

The plug was transferred. Same exact problem with both boards.
