The washer only washes, will not change cycles and go into spin/drain, is this an obvious timer issue, any way to check? thanks in advance.

Hi.

Is the washer full of water or it's draining?
Open the toe panel and check if the drain pump energized at the end of the wash cycle?
Remove the hose between the tub and pump. Clean it and check drain hose from the pump to outside.

Post the results.

Simon.

There was a problem with a clogged drain hose but I cleared that 2 weeks ago, the washer worked fine again for a week but then this new problem cropped up. Let me re-iterate the timer runs the full course, however even when it indicates that it should be on final spin the agitator is still washing.
Yes there is still water in the tub, but is that because the washer is stuck on wash cycle? How would I check to see if the pump is energized, I am comfortable with a meter.

Hi.

To check if the drain pump gets 120VAC set the timer to spin/drain, remove the toe panel, take the plug off the pump, turn the washer on and check the voltage.
If the 120VAC there check the drain hoses as I described earlier. If it's clean - replace the pump.

Does the door locks?

Simon.

first of all thanks for the help. yes the door locks, let me make sure I understand, does the pump trigger the spin cycle or does the timer trigger the spin and thus the pump, I ask because the hoses were so badly clogged that it is possible that the pump was on its way to burning out. so if the pump does not kick on the washer won't spin is that right?

Correct. The washer will not spin with the water inside.
