goes into spin mode when helix push's up on drive pulley agaist clutch fingers begins to spin then the helix just rides up and down the the pulley.
what keeps the helix and drive pulley connected spin mode. pressure from clutch?do i need a new clutch?

Here is the explanation of what is happening from the service manual.

The drive pulley turns clockwise riding up the ramps of
the helix, exerting pressure on the brake and forcing it to
release from brake pads. The helix drives the input shaft
of the transmission, and when the input shaft turns in a
clockwise direction the roller clutch locks onto the shaft
causing the entire transmission assembly to turn. None
of the gears in the transmission are operating at this
time. The hub of the washtub is attached to the
transmission tube and rotates with the transmission
assembly. The centrifugal force created by the spinning

washtub causes water to be extracted from the clothes.

Sounds like the helix is not operating properly and allowing the brakes to release.

in a counterclock rotation the belt pulley goes up the helix and releases the the brakes but doesn't stay on top of helix but drops down the to the bttom and runs up and over the helix again . what is supposed to keep the helix and the pulley together once the pulley releases the brake to spin the tub. is the pressure from the brake fingers to keep the helix and pulley coupled

The rotation should accomplish it.

Well you may have inadvertently disconnected the tube on the tub that goes to the water level switch, so check that.

Are you saying your motor thermal protection kicked in? If so, run the machine with the front off and see if you can tell what is going on.

yes motor thermal kicked in
motor is working hard in the spin cycle with a load in it.maybe the brake is not totally releasing?ck'd pressure switch looks connected to tub will ck in panel.seems to spin ok without load.did find belt idler pulley off fixed that.
water was coming out over top of tub in spin cycle .in spin cycle the trans.is locked it just staight through?thinking brake clutch maybe the problem.
