Default ice cubes
Model Number: hss25ifmdww   Brand: Hotpoint   Age: 1 - 5 years   

Hi this is my first post any help would be appreciated

I have a ge hotpoint side by side hss25ifmdww it has a crushed ice,cube ice, and water dispenser the problem was that i could not get any ice out crushed or cubed but i could get water after removing all the ice and clearing the dispenser I can now get crushed ice ,water but no cubes it doesnt matter which is selected crushed or cube all i get is crushed. any help would be appreciated

Hi Larry,

Measure the resistance across the solenoid (#378 on the break down diagram) terminals. It suppose to be about 40 Ohms.

If the reading is wrong then replace the solenoid.

If the reading is correct then check for 120 VAC to the solenoid while the ice dispenser calls for cubed ice and light switch is depressed.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Hotpoint refrigerator Model HSS25IFMDWW

Gene, if you don't mind I'd like to add to this. Take the bucket out, and at the bottom left of where the auger fork is, make sure you can freely move the solenoid up and down, you can do that with your finger. Also make sure the wire that extends from the back of the bucket is in that hole with the solenoid in the down position.
