Fridge is not cold and I have ice build up on the back wall of the freezer. Will not make ice. I replaced the thermost on this model but now I think it could be the defrost heater. I do not know what it looks like, nor where to find it. Is it hard to do, or should I just buy a new fridge? At least 15 years old. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi.

Locate the defrost timer (to the right from the thermostat you replaced). Using the flat screw driver slowly turn the shaft CW until the unit stops.
After 5 min. check if the defrost heaters are melting the snow. If they do work - replace the defrost timer

Part number: WR9X489
Part number: WR9X489

If nothing happens - replace the defrost heaters kit

Part number: WR51X442

Here are breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric TFH22PRSAWW Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you. Post the results.

Simon.
