Kenmore Coldspot side by side. Initially, I had ice drippings in freezer and warm refrigerator on top. I replaced the bi-metal, the main control board. I checked the defrost heater and it is within spec. I can disconnect the fan inside the freezer and then reconnect and the fan will run. Then the fan goes out after cooling and never comes back until the freezer melts near the bi-metal. Then I have witnessed the fan coming back on. But it takes over 24 hours for the fan to come back on. We are losing food, the unit is not usable.

I think I have checked everything.

WE GET ZERO DEFROST CYCLE....

What next?

Remove the evaporator fan motor, attach wires and plug it in the wall outlet. If it has problems running, or starting, replace it AP3140606 If ok, you will need to check for wiring problems in the freezer, usually at a connector or spade terminal.

Evaporator fan works. I unplug it and plug it back in, while it is in place. It also will start up if I let it defrost itself from lack of cold. These cycles are over 24 hours and the top shelves of the refrigerator get no cold flow, any ice cubes melt. The bottom of the freezer and the bottom of the refrigerator are cold. This is so frustrating. I wonder if it is possible for the defrost heater to NOT get voltage to heat up, but still have the other functions of the main board working..??? Oh man I hate to replace another part, like the defrost heater, just to have the same condition exist... grrrrr

When the fan motor gets cold, it might open due to the internal thermal cutout. I would just replace it, or test it's resistance when it's cold and stops.
It's either that, or it's loosing power.
