Ice maker just suddenly started working real slow. Wasn't dropping ice and now doesn't even have water in tray.

If no water in tray, the solenoid that opens to allow water in tray could be bogus.
If the solenoid is good, then it is not being activated by the control cam on the ice maker assembly. The motor on the cam could be defective OR what could be happening is that the thermostat affixed to the water tray is not closing when the temps approach 10 degrees. If that happens, the cam motor is never turned on, and the sequence of events to generate ice never start in the first place.
Check those items. If it is a whirlpool ice maker there are holes up front under the face panel where you can take resistance readings and also activate manually the solenoid, the heat strip, the cam, the works. You can isolate and make the repair.

Also check for freezer temp - if it does not go down low enough, there will be sluggish ice maker operation if any at all. If temps do not go down enough, the ice will stay in the tray and after a while it will just evaporate and you have an empty tray.
