The digital temperature control display is not illuminated any more and the water and ice dispenser in the freezer door is not illuminated and does not function, doesn't dispense. At this point the refrigerator/freezer seems to be running and cooling. This is a new problem just discovered. With the display out will the temperature in the frigerator and freezer still be controled properly? Thanks

I understand that the temp setting display and the water & ice panel have there own circuit boards. Does the motherboard control these two boards and cause them to stop working and not effect the operation of the fridge and freezer which are working fine? Trying to understand the relationship between the various units and there operation. It seems unlikely to me that both of the other two boards would fail at the same time but don't know. Have you seen this problem before? I greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks Terry

All the failed functions are controlled by the motherboard. Best to put a 1000 joule surge protector at the fridg outlet.
