Hi,

I have a Whirlpool LA7800XPW1 washer.

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=238074&diagram_id=16282#d16282

The outer tub is leaking and am looking to repair if possible since it is NLA. My plan is to buy from you two of:

Outer tub repair kit - Includes 4 rubber washers, 4 metal washers, and 4 screws.
Part Number: AP3118317 made by WHIRLPOOL

and then drill the tank and use the extra kit to plug the hole.

How do you remove the agitator to get at the spanner nut? The rest is down hill from there.

Any other insights or advice is greatly appreciated.

Just changed the belt and everything else looks and runs tip top. Want to get another 500k miles out of it.

Thank you,

Ok, so I was able to remove the agitator using a wrench on the nut on top by turning it counterclockwise.

How do you remove the spanner nut. Special tool needed (which one?) or is there a trick way of removing it with regular tools.

Thank you,

You would need a special spanner wrench. The thread is right-hand.
