My GE GSS22VGMDWW had a huge amount of frost on the coils. I took the cover off and defrosted it. The evaporator fan is not working now even though the freezer is cold and I have the damper in the fridge open so it is cold. What is the best guess of which part is bad? Thanks

Heavy frost is this model usually means a defrost heater is bad. Evap fan motor not working usually is caused by bad main control board in the back. (try to press the light switches, the fan should come on then)

I had the same problem with my GE frige. I replaced the defrost thermostat, evap. fan motor and checked the temperature sensor. It turned out to be a mother board on the back of the frige. It seems to be a recurring common problem with these model GE's according to the technician I spoke with.

clmyers759 and heretolearn2,

You can find the complete troubleshooting instructions in one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...r-frig-stop-wprking.html

In order to get the right part number for your fridge just type the model number in the search box Appliance Parts Pros.com Discount Appliance Parts – Appliance Repair Parts or post your request on the forum.
