Getting tons of lint balls on my clothes. I have a Maytag Admiral oversized washer. Can't feel anything sharp in the tub or on the agitator or auger assembly. Decided to replace both before placing the machine outside next to the curb. How is the agitator assembly removed?

Pull off the top portion of the agitator. You will need a socket extension. The bolt attaching the agitator is 1/2 inch hex.
