Hopefully this will make sense...

First of all the ice maker works perfect, so I know the water supply is at least working. However the "water dispener" on the door no longer provides water. I checked and replaced the filter thinking it might be the issue, but it is not.

I am not sure where to start...meaning is the water dispenser a "powered" supply and it is different than the ice maker, etc.

Any help or next diagnostic step would help.

Thanks in advance.

The line inside the freezer door is most likely frozen. Take the line loose at the connector under the door and attempt to get water. If water will flow at that connector the line is frozen. To un-thaw the waterline open the door and press the door switch by hand as if the door were close. Then press the lever to dispense water repeatedly until water flows. Wow...your details and fix worked. It was frozen, go figure.

I have two follow up questions.

1) Do you happen to know if the ice maker uses filtered water, I assume yes, but just want to make sure.

2) Can a layman install the heater fix, I am a bit overwhelmed by trying to figure out how the door and/or dispersor would come out.

Thanks again!

The dispenser control just pops off. You can prize it off with a screwdriver from the bottom. The housing behind it is held on by four screws. The heater comes with good instructions and it is easy. Pay close attention on where the instructions say to place the connectors.
