Good morning,

My Maytag MEDE300VF2 dryer was making a terrible screeching noise so I took it apart to investigate and discovered the idler arm was stuck with excess lint. I couldn't find any other problems so I put it back together and the Dryer is now noise free and working.

However, I have one part that is left. The part is a Maytag Dryer Clip WP8066208. I have tried to find out where this part goes and what its purpose is but I have been unsuccessful.

Can anyone tell me where this part is supposed to go and what happens if it is not installed?

Thanks and regards,

Morning ThatGuy,

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I found the link you provided but I am like one of the folks who asked the same question .... I just wish there was a photo or a drawing of what it looks like when it is installed.

From reading one of the responses I take it that its purpose is to block socks or other large items from contacting the Blower Wheel. Is its purpose to catch these large items and hold them there because when we disassembled the dryer we didn't find any large items in or around that area?

Maybe my son-in-law can figure its location out from the link you provided. Unfortunately it is more than my 75 year-old 'brain housing group' can figure out ...lol

Thanks again and regards,

I was looking through some videos and I think I know where it goes.

It goes inside the duct (where the filter is) and pushes against one side of lint filter. In this video you can see part of it sticking through the two slots the other page was talking about. Its visible at 5:48 just above the right side of the danger label on the duct.

Dryer Blower Wheel (part #WP697772) - How To Replace

This was his description.

"There are 2 slits in the front part of the ducting that one side of the clip will go into and hook into place. The other end will just hang in there.( I think he means inside the duct next to the filter area) You may have to disassembly the unit to put it back into place. You would feed it into the top slot with the flat end and then through the second slot and the hooked end will hook around the top slot opening. "

When its in place the rounded part should help guide the filter into place. I hope that helps.

Morning ThatGuy,

Just what I was looking for!

Once my son-in-law is available I will get him to help me and we will try to get it back in where it belongs.

I appreciate you taking the extra time to research it further. I will reply with the results after we are finished.

Thanks and regards,
