Hello -
I have a Maytag Top-Load Washer (circa 1999). The Agitator does not turn anymore. After tearing down the Washer including the Transmission, I Found the Yoke to be bad on the Output Shaft side.
Is there a particular Gear Oil that I should be using that will not harm the plastic pinions and yoke? Would 90 Weight Gear Oil for automotive work? How much oil does the Transmission hold? Also, any suggestions as for Gasket Compound? I noticed the Factory used some type of good sealant at the Cover. Any help much appreciated. Richard S (Cleveland, OH).

I would highly suggest replacing transmission as a whole. That's the only way you get any kind of part warranty on the thing.
