Hi. We just bought a used washer dryer set. They're frigidaire affinity brand. The model number on the dryer is: FAQE7077KR0.

The problem is a strange noise from the dryer. You'll start it up and for about 2 or 3 minutes, it makes a deep buzzing noise. It will do this periodically as it completes its cycle for a few minutes at a time, and then it is quiet again.

The noise is unique. It is the same noise the motor makes when you push the start button and the motor is starting. Like the start capacitor, dumping and the motor trying to overcome the weight of the drum to get it rolling. It's THAT noise.

The drum turns just fine by hand. I have the unit apart. There's no interference with the drum. But it makes this noise on startup for a few minutes and sporadically throughout the cycle.

Could the capacitor be bad?

Any help is appreciated.

To test a capacitor u will need an analog meter WITH A 9V BATTERY IN IT. Must have a 9v battery in it. Once u have the meter set it to ohms Rx10k as u place ur leads on ur capacitor u must be looking at the meter when u touch the capasitor.if the capasitor is good u will see the needle jump up and and then go back. This happens in 1 sec so u have to watch the meter. Every time u check the ohms u must switch lead position as in switch red and black. But its very rear for it to be the capasitor. I would bet its the motor iv NEVER had to replace the capasitor on a dryer. Although anthing is possible. Good luck

Oh and befor u u test the capasitor u must disconect the leads and take a screw driver and connect the two terminals. So utouch bothe terminals at the same time use a driver with a non metal handel. This will take the charge out of it as it is baccaly a battery and hold a charge other wise it can effect ir meter
