evaporator fan not working, help!!

Got a fridge from a friend. Transported standing up, unplugged for 48 hrs. Plugged back up for couple of days and it will not cool to proper temp. Took back cover off and the evaporated fan is only pulsating. Had the fan motor checked and the voltage to the wires, both are good. What else would cause the fan to just pulsate?!!

The fan is controlled by the defrost board (item 23 in section 11) so that is the most likely culprit.

Are there any other signs to look for if it is the defrost board? Would that cause the fan to short out?

Not that I know of.
Manufacturers do not publish board schematics so you cannot actually do tests on the board itself.

Not sure what you mean.
The fan is 120 volts so it cannot supply too high of a voltage.
I guess it could supply too low of a voltage which could overheat the fan.
You could check the fan with a meter for resistance though I do not lnow waht that resistance should be.

I have checked the wires that run to the fan, they are getting 120 volts, i took the fan motor out and hooked it up to a test wire and it worked fine but when i hook it up in the feezer the fan just ticks/pulsates back and forth.

Since the fan runs OK with a cheater cord I still think the problem is with the defrost board.
Or Could be a bad connection between the board and the fan.
