Need some help with a GE Deluxe Quiet model. It is making a noise like something is grinding or rubbing weird during agitation in the wash and rinse cycles. I pulled off the front to see if I could determine the location of the sound, but was unable to. The belt looks okay and it didn't seem to be coming from the motor. The sound comes and goes during agitation and is not present during draining or spinning. Any help would be appreciated. Could a tub seal cause this noise?

I forgot to state that it agitates fine with no issues other than the noise it makes.

Dove a little deeper into the agitator side of it today and removed the agitator and the agitator coupler. The shaft that the coupler mounts to moves around freely in the hole through the mounting hub. Is this normal?

Well, spoke with an appliance technician and he said that if that shaft is moving around the transmission needs replaced. Time for something new!
