It seems like it is going to be a simple repair but not quite sure what the exact problem is. The machine washes and rinses the load fine but when it is supposed to spin out the water it just drains without the spin. Any ideas?

Normally this is a clutch problem. Here is the part and there is a video that will show you how to change it out. It is not a difficult task but it helps to have a helper and it will take some time.

you could have a bad lid switch also. Lid switch lot cheaper and easier and faster repair.

It's not the lid switch. On this model, if the lid switch is bad, it won't agitate, drain or spin. Monitor the washer at end of agitation cycle. After agitation stops, the washer should drain for 2 minutes without spinning. The motor should then stop for a few seconds and start again. At that point, it should start spinning while continuing to drain. If there is no pause of the motor, the timer is bad, otherwise, the problem may be the clutch. You would need to remove the cabinet and bypass the lid switch so you can observe the clutch hub while in spin mode.
