I have a GE front load washing machine. I was having issues with the water draining, and learned about removing the front cover to clear out the filter. I have pulled a lot out of this filter including socks, coins and paper money, hair binders, lint/crud, and even a few wrenches. I am now clearing this bad boy out about every other week.

How is all this stuff getting down there? Is the boot bad? Is there someplace else they can get down there?

I isn't clear to me how some of this big stuff gets down in there. Can you please advise me as to next steps?

Thank you in advance for you help, this is a great resource! I also apologize in advance if there are a ton of posts on this topic, I wasn't able to find one.

Thanks,
Bryan

This stuff will accumulate in the drain system of these front loaders. The thing to do is to empty the pockets completely before you wash. Your washer and dryer will thank you by lasting longer.

Thanks, we can watch the pockets. But what about socks? That seems to be the big problem. Any idea how the work themselves into the drain?
