I am replacing the bake element. Have the right part - removed the old one by removing the two screws. When I pulled it out the electrical connections on the element were only connected to one side - the other wire must have fallen off on the other side of the hole that it goes through. Anyone have any clue how to get to that wire?

Be sure that the power is off.
Many units still have 120 volts to one side of the element even when the element is turned off.

You could get a fairly stiff piece of wire (coat hanger etc.), make a small hook at one end and go fishing.

if you cannot get it then you will have to pull the oven.

thanks for the info - and the tip on the power (that might have been too exciting). I was almost thinking that something magnetized might help - hoping I can get it as I suspect pulling a double oven out isn't much fun

maybe a bit late, but yes, you'll need to pull the unit and access it from the rear wall. there was a 50/50 shot that the wiring would be just barely long enough, or no chance that it was ever coming out with the element.
